I am one of many owners looking for a lost pet today so I contacted the Tulsa Animal Shelter. The shelter is a 30 min drive for me and I realize I can't ID my pet over the phone, so I asked if they could tell me if they had any chihuahuas there. The woman who answered the phone told me no she couldn't and that no one there knew what kinds of dogs they have there. Can they not have a list or an inventory of some kind? I'm sure they get 100s of calls a day, but it is what it is---a place where someone's lost dog may end up--we are part of the clientel they deal with. She was rude. Why is it so many people today think you are troubling them by asking them to do something that should be part of their job. I thanked her politely and she hung up...not even goodbye or you're welcome. I am a supporter of the Humane Society here and every other town we have lived in. I definitely will keep supporting them and not the animal shelter.

Hello MCooley,
I lost my dog recently and found her at the Tulsa Animal Shelter and I had a similar experience. I won't go into details because I will basically repeat what you have already said.
I guess they have been doing this for so long that they have lost all compassion for the dogs and cats and the people who have lost them.
The bad thing is that they only keep them for about 3 business days, so I urge anyone who has lost a pet to check there as soon as possible.

I hope we have helped,
Jack Sampson
